First Day of School: Wed. 8/15.
In 1936, five small school districts were consolidated to form what is now Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District. Located in the southern portion of Lubbock County, LCISD encompasses an area of approximately 116 square miles and hosts seven campuses: Central Elementary, North Elementary, South Elementary, West Elementary, Laura Bush Middle School, Lubbock-Cooper Middle School, and Lubbock-Cooper High School.
Lubbock-Cooper is one of the fastest-growing school districts in the state of Texas, increasing student population by 1,296 in the past five years. With this growth, LCISD has managed to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, a "down home," family-oriented nature, and a standard of success for every student. Lubbock-Cooper is currently rated Recognized by the Texas Education Agency.
