Musicianship classes are grouped according to age and experience for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

What We Do:
Singers are selected on the basis of their aural and vocal potential, their desire to sing, their ability to learn quickly and their willingness to work hard. Children from public, private and home schools meet Tuesday afternoons for an hour of rehearsals and music-making. They are led by a staff of university faculty, area school music and movement specialists, professional singers and Texas Tech University undergraduate and graduate music education interns.

In addition to the choral ensemble, singers meet in small groups for Kodaly musicianship training. This specialized approach to music literacy is designed to help our singers become well-rounded musicians, able to read and write music as well as sing it. Musicianship classes meet before and after full rehearsals, grouped by the students' level of skill and experience.

WTCC Philosophy:
The philosophy of the West Texas Children's Chorus emphasizes the joy of singing for its own sake, and the development of the whole child through diverse musical experiences of the highest caliber. We strive to provide a musically stimulating and nurturing environment in which every singer can grow musically, intellectually and personally, and hope that the WTCC experience will open doors to a life-long enjoyment of music for every child.
