The South Plains Tennis Association is a volunteer run community organization that promotes and develops the growth of tennis in Lubbock and the South Plains.

Website provides info on Junior tennis resources including Munchkins & Little Tennis for children ages 4-6, 10 & under tennis, Intermediate Player Clinics and Advanced Player Clinics.

The SPTA sponsors sanctioned tournaments for juniors three times each year: the HWY 80 (Champs) in June, a summer ZAT in July and a fall ZAT in September. The Dub Rushing Memorial Open for adults and juniors is held the last weekend in June in the memory of longtime tennis player, tennis fan and tennis supporter 'Dub' Rushing. The SPTA also co-sponsors, with the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department and the Burgess Rushing Tennis Center, the annual Toys for Tots Scramble to assist the Marine Reserves provide toys for needy children at Christmas. Other projects include support of Adaptive Tennis summer camps and serving as the local delivery system for USTA Adult Leagues.
