Fri. 9/7 - Sun. 9/9, 2018: 30th annual National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration! Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

Youth Wild West Day - Friday. Teachers are encouraged to bring their classes to the Civic Center to learn more about the American West.

Youth are also encouraged to participate in one or more of the National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration's youth contests. See entry forms and info online. Includes:
POETRY - Each poem can be no longer than 36 lines.
STORIES - Each story should be no longer than two pages.
PHOTOGRAPHY - Each photo must be representative of western heritage and/or ranching.
COLORING - Each entry must be colored by the contestant without assistance. Age divisions are 3 -5 years old and 6 - 8 years old.
YOUTH COOK-OFF- Intent to enter should be given to the NCSC office by 5pm, Wednesday. Entrants must be 12 to 18 years of age by the date of the competition.

10:00 am - 5:00 pm Quanah Parker Society Native American Activities.
11:00 am & 3:00pm Horse Demonstrations by Chance O'Neal, Four Sixes Ranch.

Saturday events:
10:00 am Parade of the Horse.
10:00 am - 5:00 pm Quanah Parker Society Native American Activities.
11:00 am - 3 pm YOUTH ACTIVITIES, in Civic Center Pedestrian Mall. Individual youth activities including paper construction of cowboy vests and hats, paint branding, creating a personal brand, and a sheriff's badge for completing the activities. Come and go as you please - and create these fun item to take home!
11:00am & 3:00pm Horse Demonstrations
2:00 pm Ballet Folklorico Neustra Henricia.

Sunday Events:
7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - Chuck Wagon Breakfast.
9:00 am - 11:00 am Cowboy Devotional Service - Western music and Poetry. Color Guard Entrance - Boy Scout Troop 157.
