Description
June 20-24, 2016: Summer Discovery Art Program for High School students. $350.It is a residential summer program designed to offer high school students a taste of a college art degree.
A 5-day immersive experience, students will learn to think and make art in a holistic way, experiment with a variety of two- and three-dimensional and time-based media to test the limits of creative expression, and collaborate with fellow students to install an exhibition at the end of the week.
Students will stay in a dormitory on campus; classes will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and there will be a few educational activities in the evenings. Parents and friends are invited to an exhibition at the end of the week, on Friday at 5:30 PM.
The cost of the Program per student is $350 and the fee will cover the purchase of art supplies and instructor fees and is inclusive of room and board (i.e. cost of dormitory stay and 3 meals per day at the cafeteria). The dorm has drink and snack machines for student use at all hours of the day.
Students will need to make a $50 deposit (payable to "TTU School of Art") to secure their place in the Program. Applicants are encouraged to register asap - enrollment is limited, so sign up immediately!
Five (5) $100 scholarships are being offered for the high school program. If you are interested in applying for one of these scholarships, please write a one-page letter (or better, have your son/daughter write a letter), stating why your son/daughter is interested in attending the Summer Discovery Art Program. Include the letter along with your application.
